A Classic: What’s in my Bag

I think what’s in my bag videos are as old as YouTube itself. Probably exaggerating, but it is a video a lot of people do. I think it’s so cool that we are all secret nosy enough to watch other people empty their purses and tell us about their personal belongings. I don’t have a fancy bag, or items, but I really wanted to make a ‘What’s in my Bag’ video. I found a LOT of lip products, cleaned out all of the receipts, and had a good time chatting about stuff I like!   Let me know some of the products in your bag and why you like to carry them around, and watch my video pretty please!

5 Pink Things I LOVE

Hi Lovelies,

Pink is one of my favorite colors, Blush pink is turning into a classic staple, valentine’s day is coming up and this is a list of pink things that I LOVE!

These Asos pants are everything to me. They are pink, can be taken from work to street with a change of shoes, and are so comfy.

I will always find a way to get the Mario Badescu Rose Water spray into a post lol. This is the perfect rose water spray! It refreshes, hydrates, and it’s multi use. The bottle says facial spray but in a pinch, I have used it to slick my hair back and refresh my curls!

Garnier Gel Rescue:

This is my favorite moisturizer of all time, I’ve written so many posts like this one and this one singing its praises

Pink dinnerware is real and this set from target is amazing. The price is affordable and most items I get from target are of amazing quality.

The last thing is this “not your baby” dress  from H&M. Yes they have had issues earlier this year, but I still like their clothing. It’s affordable, and the clothes fit me better than Forever 21 or Charlotte Russe.

 Skincare Routine for my 20s

Hi lovelies!!

Setting up a skin care routine has been a little difficult in my early 20s. Most of the people in life are telling me to wait because I’m so young and there’s still so much time. By starting a routine now, it’ll be easier to add more later on in life and I will already have tried-and-true basics to go to when my skin gets problematic. I have to wash my face because of makeup and hygiene, but I wanted a little more than just moisturizer and the Sunday face mask. My routine, after washing my face, is 3 steps so there’s no real excuse to not do it. That is key because I live to make excuses to get in bed faster! It also doesn’t change from day to night. It’s the same so I barely have to think about it. Right now that works really well.

After washing and drying my face I either brush my teeth for bed or am getting dressed for work or school. I need to dampen my face a little so I use a facial spray. My current favorites are the Mario badescu rose water spray or the Urban Decay quick fix. It’s easy and adds a boost of hydration.

This is the game changing step: SERUM. My skin changed SO MUCH when I started using a serum. I got a little freebie of the Bare Minerals skin longevity serum at Sephora. It made my face feel so nice, soft, and hydrated that I bought a full size and never looked back! What ever is in this bottle is doing amazing things and I feel like I’m going my skin every favor.

To seal in this layer of goodness, I moisturize using the Garnier Moisture Rescue . Oh my GOODNESS I love this moisturizer. I have oily skin, so I feel like it does the job without being greasy. It’s also a neat little dupe for the Clinique moisture surge which is another AMAZING moisturizer, but it’s on the more expensive side and sometimes I can’t afford both the serum and moisturizer. I actually wrote a post comparing the two here.

With that I am ready for makeup, or ready for bed!! I’m so happy to have found a regimen that works for my skin. Skincare is such a personal topic because everyone’s is so different but I wanted to share. What is your game changer when it comes to skin care?

Self Doubt

2017 has been the year of self doubt. Where a self confidence and passion once stood, now stands second guessing and the “delete post” button. This year I have trashed  29 posts and 27 have made it onto whatelisabeth.  It’s not a huge difference, but the deleted posts have the majority. I won’t even begin to add up the number of potential Instagram posts that are now deep, DEEP  in my recycle bin. So many assignments that I was so proud that have barely passed and “innovative ” ideas that one trip to google has shown is common mentality. Add that to the insecurities I already have, and it’s not the best situation to be in.

This isn’t a new issue; not too sure how to start fixing it. Like, there will always be someone or something better, how can I be happy with my work? Wish this was more of a positive post, but it’s been the only thing on my mind lately. If you struggle with this, or have found a middle ground let me know.

Gifts? Gifts. GIFTS!

How have we already circled back to the holidays?! We have just  2 months until presents have to be under trees, in stockings, or wherever you put gifts for your loved ones.  Have no fear, this post is here to save the day! Today (tonight/this morning/this evening/on this Christmas week), I have a blurb of ideas for 3 important people in your life; the guys, the gals, and your pals!

The Guys:

For all of the manly males in your life, gift giving can be hard. All that is advertised are tools, sports things, and cars, all of those thing are REALLY EXPENSIVE. This is great list of gifts from Uncommon Goods, that are a range of items and prices. There are doormats, home beer making kits, ticket stub books etc. If I had a special someone in my life, he would get a lot from this site. (My dad wants a new pack of reading glasses; I’ve already asked)

The Gals:

For the girls, stick to the cute. Jewelry, scarves, TEA STRAINERS, etc.. If it’s adorable she is guaranteed to LOVE it. The joyous squeals will be music to your ears. Of course, I have a nifty link to help guide your  girlfriend shopping adventures  .

The Pals:

Your good friends deserve the world. Depending on the size of your friend group, having unique gifts can be a struggle. These are the people that you can be the most problematic around . They will glare at you, yell at you, and then buy you ice cream and tell you they love you. So love them back with gifts  that will make them yell for the right reasons. Some personal favorites are the, make your own hot sauce, literary candles, the anatomy of a best friend poster, and the customized birthday books.

For this post I am working with UncommonGoods to start your holiday shopping adventures on the right foot! They are an online retailer where sustainability and social responsibility are part of their core values. Their products are from independent makers, and when you click on a product, one of the first things you see is who made it and where they are based from.  I already have multiple things bookmarked and ready for when I start my shopping. The prices aren’t the most affordable, but the quality and care that goes into every part of the transaction makes it all worth it.

5 Steps to Minimal Makeup

So minimal makeup? It’s fast and easy; perfect for the working woman. It’s actually perfect for any situation because of it’s simplicity. I’ve broken down my routine into 5 steps that take me from just-rolled-out-of-bed to effortlessly put together.

  1. Concealer/corrector: a peachy colored corrector can help with discoloration of dark circles and concealer helps make everything look like skin.

2. Powder Foundation: The coverage isn’t fantastic, but it is enough to make the skin seamless (aka you can’t tell where your concealer stops and my skin starts). With a light  dusting, it also sets all of the cream products.

3.  Bronzer: Yep, it’s extra and can be completely skipped, BUT HEAR ME OUT. Bronzer helps give dimension and color. It also doubles as eyeshadow.

4. Brows: Framing the face is essential when there is no time (or want) for full face. Defining the eyebrows, no matter how full they are, can be the difference between makeup that looks rushed, and the minimal makeup look I am trying to achieve.

5. Mascara & Liner: Again frame the face! Eyes are the window to the soul, draw attention to your windows! Mascara opens up the eyes, and a nude liner will make them look brighter.

There you have it, 5 easy steps to achieve a gorgeous minimal makeup look. What? The lips? Right so, I usually just use chapstick. Feel free to pair any lip color with this look! I guess that is 6 steps, but shhhhh consider it a bonus

Bullet Journal: 3 month update

In June, I started a bullet journal. It was daunting because making my own 95% customized planner is overwhelming. I had worries about finding the time to keep setting up spreads, if I actually needed a dotted notebook, if I actually needed to pay $20 for a fancy notebook I may not use  more than 5 pages of, and if it would honestly help me manage my time better. Of course, I spent weeks watching bujo (Bullet journal) videos on YouTube for inspiration. They were all beautiful and creative.  It made me wonder; how do I keep up?  I’m breaking this post into the three months and what my experience was like in each

June:

By then, bullet journalling had taken off and brands were already making affordable alternatives to the famous notebook that most people love. I got this one for $12, and I’ve found some for even less! I also got a giant pack of colored pens and let myself go wild with the colors for the first month. Getting that out of my system was important; I was full of ideas. I basically played around with my options for most of June. Even with the rainbow throw up, it did help me keep on track with my summer classes and social activities.

July:

I grew sick of colors lol.

I picked a space theme and stuck to an all black and pen spread. This month I had an idea of what worked for me, and kept refining my “style”. I knew I needed a monthly overview, a page for quotes, and depending on how busy I was, I flipped back and forth between weekly and daily spreads. Summer classes were winding down, so there was a lot more free time than usual. To do lists were needed more than structured spreads and I enjoyed that how it can be changed up that easily! This month was where I learned that all of these fancy colorful, artistic spreads weren’t necessary.

August:

August was where I truly fell in love with the Bujo system. I knew what I liked and what was useful. I picked a lavender theme, because purple, and it was cute but not overwhelming. I also made a weekly to-do list with a small space for specific events and appointments. That kind of weekly spread turned out to be really useful with no classes and tons of free time after work. I also dedicated a spread to the weekends. I experimented with a fitness spread, but that didn’t carry over into this month (Sept).

I used to think that people who kept up with these planners were heros/aliens from planet organization. This system is really easy to keep up with. Just a little time and you’ve got yourself a cute system that also helps you keep up with life! I’ll do another update soon, it’s turned into a real passion!

The Irma Update: Tired, Sticky, but Alive

So what happens when a legendary storm decides to cut through the middle of Florida instead of it’s intended path up the west coast of the state?

  • it weakens (thank god can you imagine the devastation?)
  • your power is out for days
  • tensions run high because air conditioning is super important
  • you have to do your makeup by iPhone flashlight (first world problems I know)
  • the electric company’s message system begins with, “we know, you don’t have power”
  • Suddenly, no one can drive and run rampant on the roads
  • you count every blessing you’ve ever gotten

It’s been almost three days since Hurricane Irma barreled her way through Florida. I’m grateful to be complaining. The eye passed right through where I live in Polk county, and honestly having minimal damage is a miracle. My house lost a few shingles and all power. I’m learning the greatest lesson in patience waiting for power to be restored. Not all hope is lost though! I still have water, the office has electricity, and I have plenty of reading time. I also got to take a picture of this AMAZING rainbow the day after the storm. God’s promise that everything is gonna be okay. (if that’s not your thing, it’s a beautiful sign that everything will be okay!)
