Everyday Jewelry

Who ever came up with the idea for humans to decorate themselves with metal rings and then decorate those rings with pretty stones, please give them an award. When I was younger I used to make jewelry all the time. It wasn’t just the little friendship bracelet kits, or the plastic letter beads either. No ma’am I had a little set of jewelers tools from Michaels, I was working with metal wires, designing my own patterns, I even took orders from my family and let them pick out the beads they wanted. I still have one of the necklaces and wear it all the time. It’s little crystal beads and gunmetal colored pearls.

All of this to say: I freaking love jewelry. I wanted to write a giant post about all the pieces of jewelry that I have, but I found the pieces I really wanted to write about are the ones that get daily use. So here we are.

My daily bracelet is this amazing cuff from Alex and Ani. I got it for my birthday last year from my parents and haven’t taken it off since (well for showers and water activities but you get the gist). I love the cuff design because it’s less annoying than their iconic bangles. I have many of them but I can wear this one to work and not have to take it off so it doesn’t rattle against my desk. The cuff has the Godspeed design, it’s decorated with feathers, little crescent moons and a few crystals that shift from orange to purple to white. It’s a really stunning piece and I love it a lot.

There are two pairs of earrings that I switch between. I don’t know what brand they are. All I know is that they don’t irritate my ears. The gold dream catcher like earrings I’ve had since I was a child. The silver hearts my dad got in New York when he was walking around Manhattan a few years ago.  Both pairs are beautiful, and match any outfit I wear. They’re big enough to stand out but also aren’t so eye catching that I have to reserve them for special events (thank god because I do not have any.)

It’s time to get all sappy writer, so please strap yourselves in and get all your snacks sorted before the ride commences because my rings mean the most to me. I’m pretty sure my rings capture who I am personality wise. I have an arrow ring, I’d like to think this one shows my wanderer trait. I can’t sit still, I’m always dreaming of going places. I can be sitting down but I promise you my mind isn’t there with me. Most people would be like, “wow please go to therapy for that last one.” Believe me I do, but sometimes it’s nice to dream. I have a ruby wrap ring I bought for myself for my 20th birthday. No, this isn’t a real ruby. Please show me a typical 20 year old that can actually afford one. I love what rubies stand for. It’s my birthstone; it represents passion and protection, it is the stone of nobility, and it’s BEAUTIFUL.

A Classic: What’s in my Bag

I think what’s in my bag videos are as old as YouTube itself. Probably exaggerating, but it is a video a lot of people do. I think it’s so cool that we are all secret nosy enough to watch other people empty their purses and tell us about their personal belongings. I don’t have a fancy bag, or items, but I really wanted to make a ‘What’s in my Bag’ video. I found a LOT of lip products, cleaned out all of the receipts, and had a good time chatting about stuff I like!   Let me know some of the products in your bag and why you like to carry them around, and watch my video pretty please!

I will always find a way to get the Mario Badescu Rose Water spray into a post lol. This is the perfect rose water spray! It refreshes, hydrates, and it’s multi use. The bottle says facial spray but in a pinch, I have used it to slick my hair back and refresh my curls!

The last thing is this “not your baby” dress  from H&M. Yes they have had issues earlier this year, but I still like their clothing. It’s affordable, and the clothes fit me better than Forever 21 or Charlotte Russe.

Dear Reader, I Caved and Bought Mules

For the longest time, the one pair of shoes I vowed to never get are mules. They are a 90’s trend I could never get on board with.  Bloggers, Vloggers, instagram influencers, etc. have made mules the shoes of the summer and to me, it never made sense. My arguments on this case were, “What’s the point of half a shoe,” and “it’s glorifying flip flops.”  On this day, (actually a few days ago) I caved and got a pair of mules; loafer mules to be exact.

Why? Well,  I found this pair that was under $25, they come in black, and they look a WHOLE lot like this high end pair. There are also three influencers that have made me convert to the mule trend: Blank ItineraryMiss Louie, and  the College Prepster. They make these silhouettes look modern and chic, so I had to give it a try.

Here is a quick pros and cons list if you’re still on the fence about this style:

Pros:

  • They give you an “effortless” put together vibe that I didn’t was possible to achieve with half a loafer
  • no straps or buckles to mess with, just slip on and you’re out the door!
  • variety of price ranges, yes broke college student, you too can give off fashion blogger vibes at a fraction of the price

Cons:

  • I can’t wear them if a lot of walking is involved. Maybe I need a different size, but they are kind of difficult to walk in
  •  Like most open shoes, they aren’t ideal for rainy days

Graduation

Last Wednesday, one of my dearest friends was graduating from school.  Our friend group all took inspiration and dress up a little for this amazing milestone. My outfit was typical for my style, and super AFFORDABLE! I wore a black body suit from forever 21 (similar), a floral skirt from Ross, and my Aldo Yalissa loafers (yes the shoes are expensive, pretend they aren’t here). I opted for flats over heels, because the graduation took place where there were a lot of stairs to climb. The 3/4 length sleeve of my top turned out to be helpful  because it was a rainy and cool evening in Florida.

Denim and Flowers

Spring seems to have skipped straight over Florida but I’m still dressing like it! Using a denim jacket in Spring is ideal because it’s lighter than most sweaters and versatile to use with different looks. I wore this outfit to work and it was a hit at the office! I also switched up my  florals and wore the pattern with a dark base. The small bouquets break up the dark and it made for a beautiful contrast.  I kept the shoes basic because it’s what I prefer for work,  but this can definitely look amazing with red shoes or a pair of lace up sandals with the colorful pom poms.

*Spanish translation to come*

  • Dress is H&M (it’s in red but I found the black in store)
  • Jacket is Old Navy (IT’S ON SALE)
  • Shoes are Aldo

Atheltic at Disney

Disney World means it’s going to be a good day! A few friends, my sister, and I had passes so we made a date out of it. Staying true to my favorite color palette, I wore all black.

My top is HM, my bomber jacket is from Forever 21 (Similar here and here) , leggings are from Walmart, my sneakers are vans, and my lip is the Smashbox always on liquid lip in ‘bawse‘. The necklace is from Sparkle Designs.  I am planning a post about these necklaces so stay tuned!!!

I was going for the whole athlesiure look. I don’t know how well I did, but I liked it and was comfortable all day. It was hot but thankfully it’s also February. That means once the sun goes down so does the temperature which made completing this outfit possible!
