E.L.F Prep and Play Holiday Set 2016

Eyes Lips Face have come out with the most amazing holiday sets for 2016. The set up is beautiful: there are sets for every budget. There are sets for $5, $10, $15, and $20. They are ready for wrapping or, when you take off the price tag, ready for gifting!  I got a set for most of the price ranges they’ve offered.

Today, I am giving  a run down on one of the $5 kits. The $5 dollar kits are small, but useful. They come in little sets for eyes, lips, or face. I picked up the prep and play lip exfoliator and color set.

Elf Lip exfoliator and color set

What you get: A FULL SIZED lip exfoliator and a FULL SIZED matte lip color.

Pros: It’s an unspoken rule that before any matte lip color is applied, you must make sure your lips are smooth so the product doesn’t exaggerate any dry bits. Both products are full sized, which is Amazing! The lip exfoliator came in a cherry flavor and is a sugar scrub that they put in form of a lipstick. The lipstick shape makes it easy to use and hygienic because you aren’t sticking your fingers into anything. I enjoyed it very much and my lips were smooth and ready for color. The matte lip color is gorgeous! They color included is called ‘wine’; a deep pinky red that is perfect for all your holiday parties and the winter season.

Cons: I only have one con for this set. The packaging of the matte lip color.  The product is fine. The tube it came in is broken. This is  something I am happy to over look, but I don’t know how often I’ll use it. The product is a bit of a hassle to get on my lips. That’s why there’s no picture of the matte lip color stick.

I give it a 8 out of 10 (yes I’m trying to rate it). Let me know if you have tried either of these! ELF do sell them separately, so if you want just one or you already have one but not the other, go check it out. They are super affordable and worth a try.

Graveyard of the Half-Read Books

School makes reading for fun difficult. There are so many assignments, and general studying, that books get set aside for another time. When that time rolls around, the last thing I want to do is read. Currently there are 3 books that have been started, but are no where near being finished. I’ve been trying to read Emma for most of 2016. The Book Thief is a newer read and is soooooo good. Real Artists Have Day Jobs is one of the funnier books I’ve read this year.

Hopefully, I’ll finish Real Artists Have Day Jobs during the few days off for Thanksgiving. To top everything off, I have 7 books to get through for my goodreads reading challenge. The stress is real, but it’ll be the kick in the pants I need. So while I work more math problems and master the art of the Punnet square, enjoy this post, the picture, and your free reading time. You’re very lucky.

Primers for Oily and Dehydrated Skin

For those of us with combination skin types, it is near impossible to find products that will meet our needs. Cosmetic and skin care brands do their absolute best to provide the best of both worlds, but sometimes, it is difficult to make our skin happy.  I want to make a series out of these little posts. It will be my mission to find products that will help hydrate my skin, and keep the shine at bay. Today, I start with primers.

Mario Badescu Facial Spray

Too Faced Hangover Rx Replenishing Face Primer

Benefit the Porefessional Matte Reascue

I tend to  do my makeup later in the day before work  (I work evenings). To refresh the face and start preparing for makeup, I spray on a little of the Mario Badescu rose water spray. It feels heavenly, wakes me up a little,  and my skin comes to life. It is also super affordable, which is always a plus!! Then I use not one, but two primers. Excessive I know, but it works, so why not? The Too Faced Hangover Rx primer is incredibly hydrating, feels like a moisturizer, and smells like coconut ( it has coconut in it- go figure). I put on that one first to have a good hydrating base. Next comes the Benefit Porefessional Matte Rescue primer. This gel-creme (very important) primer helps mattify and blur before foundation, and keep it matte. Because it is a gel formula, the primer feels light, unlike like other matte primers. I love this the most because I use a heavy foundation, and not having to add heavy primers underneath makes everything so much more comfortable.

Now, these two are not the most affordable. The Too Faced primer runs at $32 without tax, and the Benefit primer costs $28 without tax.  Buy the minis, especially if you’ve never tried them . In Ulta, I found miniatures of the Hangover Rx for $15 and the Matte Rescue for $10. They do come with less product, but it’s better than nothing. Let me know if you tried these and what you thought of them!
